Sandra L. Kessler, age 65, of Wellston, passed away Friday, August 3, 2012, at the Edgewood Manor of Wellston. She was born May 4, 1947 in Gallipolis, Ohio to James W. Kessler, Sr. and Mildred E. Huffman Kessler.
Sandy was a 1965 graduate of Wilton High School in Wilkesville. She was the Police Communications Officer for the City of Wellston from 1989 to the present, having served for over 23 years. Sandy was a Wellston Auxiliary Police Officer; City of Wellston Parking Enforcement Officer; member of the Wellston Fire Department Water Rescue Team; a volunteer for the Jackson County Red Cross; active in the D.A.R.E. program in the City of Wellston and worked for the South Eastern Ohio Emergency Medical Service (S.E.O.E.M.S.) as an EMT. She was of the Catholic faith.
Sandy is survived by her father, James W. Kessler, Sr. of Wellston; brother, James W. Kessler, Jr., and wife, Wylodine, of Hamden; nephew, James Scott Kessler of Hamden; niece, Angela Dempsey, and husband, Todd, of Jackson; great-nieces and great-nephews, Stephanie, Chelsey, James and Natasha Kessler and Ian and Jack Dempsey, as well as two great-great-nephews, one great-great-niece and numerous friends including special friends, Sharon Massie, Travis Massie, Dave Strickland, Bettina Hughes, Connie Pelletier and Morgan McWilliams.
Sandy was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Kessler and her nephew, Timothy Kessler.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with John Pelletier, CLP officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
