William Lewis Butts, 82, passed away Friday, August 3, 2012 at Jenkins Memorial Nursing Home in Wellston, Ohio. Bill was born August 30, 1929 to the late Charles Arthur and Gertrude Butts in Jackson County, Ohio. Bill was married to Anna Mae Simpson on October 4, 1947.
Bill is survived by his wife, Anna (Simpson); daughter, Judy (Lyndell) Mills of Westerville, Ohio; daughter, Nina (Dale) Rose of Jackson; son, William Lewis Jr. (Sandy) of Cincinnati, Ohio and son, Kevin (Kristin) of Jackson, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth (Libby) Roberts (Jarvie) of Jackson, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother, David Butts of Jackson, Ohio and sister, Winifred Bush (Stanley) of Wellston, Ohio.
Bill was a grocery man his entire life. He owned and operated his own business, a “Rolling Store” until 1965, at which time he began a long career with Henry’s Supermarket which later became IGA. He was store manager until his retirement in 1991. Bill loved the grocery business. His customers and co-workers became like family to him.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home in Jackson, Ohio with Reverend Wendell Vermillion officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Jackson, Ohio. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home.
