Gilbert “Ray” Williams, age 74, of Oak Hill, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. Ray was born on July 11, 1946 in Jackson, Ohio to the late Homer and Elizabeth (Rhoden) Williams of Oak Hill, Ohio.
Ray spent many years in Oak Hill, Ohio and Eustis, Florida. He loved going to the beach, riding roller coasters and hunting. He was an avid collector, he enjoyed going to flea markets in search of hidden treasures. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. He enjoyed traveling and taking photos. Ray never went anywhere without his favorite companion, his Chihuahua Choco.
He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Hensley (Brooks) of Davenport, Florida; his son, Larry Davis (Jill) of Jackson, Ohio; grandchildren, Rae Ann Williams of Lake Mary, Florida, Amber Rodriguez (Justin) of Parrish, Florida, Dylan Davis and Luke Davis of Jackson Ohio. Also surviving is his great-grandson, Colton Rodriguez of Parrish, Florida; sister, Judy (Dave) Eggers of Oak Hill, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Dale Zornes, Gary Trapp and Chester Dawson; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jack and Lucy (Jarrel) Rhoden; paternal grandparents, George and Cora (Canter) Williams; and sisters, Betty Zornes, Norma Jean Trapp, Lynn Dawson, Carolyn Ruth Williams and Evelyn (Williams) Adkins.
A Celebration of Life, open to the public, will be held at the Oak Hill Church of Nazarene, 200 Zane Oak Rd., Oak Hill, Ohio on Friday, July 24, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Hospice in Ray’s name.
