Herby E. Conn, age 85, of Wellston, passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at Edgewood Manor in Wellston. He was born March 1, 1934 in West Union, Ohio, son of the late Estil and Eliza (Stewart) Conn.
Herby was a veteran of the United States Army, who served overseas in Germany from 1956-1958. He was a former employee of Asplundh Tree Co. for 30 years and then became the owner and operator of Conn’s Tree Service. Herby was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and camping. He was a member of the Wellston Church of the Nazarene.
Herby is survived by his wife of 60 years, Wilma Jean Ross Conn; children, Danny Conn of Manchester, Jerry Conn of Manchester, Sharon Angles of Bradenton, Florida, Lisa Vires (Scott) of Wellston and Brian Conn (Barb) of Wellston; grandchildren, Justin Angles (Brandy), Ashley Sherman (Adam), Sarah Mace (Daniel), Logan Conn (Sami), Alex Vires and Jacob Vires; great-grandchildren, Leo and Noah Sherman, Wyatt, Levi, Laiken, Derby and Landree Mace, and Max Conn; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Darrell Angles; brothers, Richard Conn, Jim Conn and Willard Conn; and sisters, Betty Thatcher and Mary Lou Ryan.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 12 to 3 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 3 p.m. with Pastor Tim Jones officiating.
