Michael F. Carpenter, age 66, of Oak Hill, passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2017 at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio. He was born Oct. 12, 1950, in Gallia, to the late Fred and Gladys (Roese) Carpenter. Michael was a member of the Rodney Pike Church of God since 1979. He graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1969. He retired from Waterloo Coal Co. after 40 years and then went to work as a farmer full-time.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rita (Delaney) Carpenter; four children, Charles (Nikki) Carpenter, Suzanne (Jeffrey) Turner, Michael “Tee” Carpenter and Keith Carpenter; three brothers, Fred (Jackie) Carpenter, Arnold (Sarah) Carpenter and Richard (Delayne) Carpenter; a brother-in-law, Joe Delaney; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Ann Carpenter.
Friends may call Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ron Bynum officiating.
