David Guy Simmons, age 87, life-long resident of Walnut Hills in Jackson, Ohio, passed away at the VA Medical Extended Care in Chillicothe, Ohio on June 30, 2014. He was born March 5, 1927 in Chillicothe, OH to the late Guy David Simmons and Adele (Sheward) Simmons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Guy David Simmons; sisters, Mary Ellen (Lloyd) Smith and Maribel (William) Griffiths; and a nephew, Allen Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joyce (Brooks) Simmons; two daughters, Lori (Matt) Stalter, of Wexford, PA, and Amanda (Michael) Aring, of Columbus, OH; three grandchildren, Matthew Stalter, Kathryn Stalter, and Emma Aring; two nieces, Karen Griffiths, of Fayette, AL; and Jennifer Johnson, of Columbus, OH; and nephew, Bob (Anne) Smith, of Leavenworth, WA. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy in World War II.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2014 at the Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson with Pastor David Roach and Diaconal Minister Janie Karl officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christ United Methodist Church, 150 Portsmouth St., Jackson, Ohio 45640, or a charity of your choice.
