Frances Kathleen West Phillips, age 93, a former resident of Wellston, passed away Monday, September 16, 2013, at the home of her son in Columbus, Ohio. She was born March 18, 1920 in Wellston to the late Walter and Bertha Wray West.
Frances was a 1938 graduate of Wellston High School and she was a loving housewife and homemaker. She was married to the late Floyd A. Phillips for 59 years before his passing in 1998. Frances spent her married life living in Roads, also known as Berlin, and then lived the last 15 years in Columbus. She was a member of the Chase Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and was a lifetime member of the Victory Grange.
Frances is survived by her son, Jerry C. Phillips, and his wife, Joyce, of Columbus; grandson, Kyle C. Phillips, and his wife, Dawn Deaterla, of Columbus; great-grandsons, Colin and Michael Phillips, both of Columbus, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Walter and Bertha West, and her husband, Floyd Phillips, Frances was preceded in death by her siblings, Harold West, Guy West, Eva Collins, Muriel Collins, Fern Ruggles, Pauline Hastings, Marjorie Branscomb and Maxine Williams.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
