Ruby H. (Walker) Lambert, 93, life-long resident of Jackson, passed away quietly on the morning of April 26, 2013 at Holzer Assisted Living of Jackson, which has been her home for 5 years.
Born April 23, 1920 to Lew and Grace Lucinda Walker, Ruby was the 16th child and was proud to tell everyone about her older siblings and family members.
She was a graduate of Jackson High School in the class of 1937 and worked in several local businesses over the years; many of her years of employment were for the Stockmeister family at Jackson’s bowling alley – Jolly Lanes. Jackson area bowlers will remember her behind the counter running events and specifically working with Jackson’s Junior bowlers.
She is preceded in death by her parents and by her husband William Franklin Lambert, whom she married in 1939. Ruby and Frank were parents to Linda Lambert Brodess (Columbus) and Debra Lambert (Jackson); both daughters passed away in 2007.
Ruby is survived by three grandchildren of Columbus: Bryan Brodess, Lori Ann Brodess Wilkes, and David Brodess and six great-grandchildren. Her son-in-law Wilbur Brodess of Columbus survives. She also will be remembered by her nieces, nephews, and friends, including the many staff members at Jackson’s Holzer Assisted LIving.
Three will be a private graveside service at the convenience of the family. Officiating will be Rev. William Goodall of Wesley United Methodist Church. Arrangements are with the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson.
