Roy P. Jeffries, age 93, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born August 25, 1919 in Liberty, Kentucky, to the late Spurgeon and Lovenia (Wilkinson) Jeffries. He was a WWII veteran, member of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Kentucky #629, the Shriners, DAV, VFW Post #8402 lifetime member and American Legion Jefferson Howe Post #81; he participated in Bible Study at the Calvary Methodist Church and was a member of the Wellston Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Jeffries. He is survived by two daughters, Renee’ Church, of Knoxville TN, Lisa Poorman (Richard Tilley), of Jackson; grandchildren, Joshua Frazier, Amanda Church, Kristina Poorman, Matthew Frazier, Dennis Poorman, Nathan Tilley, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson with burial to follow in Hannah Cemetery. A military graveside service will be performed by the DAV post 45 of Jackson. Friends may call Saturday, September 1, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
