Gladys “Polly” Sinclair-Cavey, age 94, of Jackson, passed away at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis on Sunday, Jan. 17 due to complications of COVID-19. She was born in Jackson on Dec. 17, 1926, to the late Fredrick and Kathryn (Whaley) Altherr.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry “Buck” Sinclair; her second husband, Charles “Pete” Cavey; a son, John “Jeff” Sinclair; and three sisters: Ruby Altherr, Juanita Loftis and Shirley Howell.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Levite; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; a brother, Fred Altherr; and several nieces and nephews with whom she was very close.
Polly was a voracious reader and loved music and visiting with family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at Fairmount Cemetery on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 1 p.m., with Bill Taylor as celebrant. A repast will follow at the Stockroom, 601 E. Main St. in Jackson, Ohio.
