Romona J. Denney, age 77 of Jackson passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at the Jenkins Community Care Facility in Wellston.
She was born September 30, 1943 in Kentucky to the late Raymond Howell and Lillian Dillow (Franky) Gilkey. She started her working career at the Hercules Pants Factory and at KFC. Throughout the years, she continued her hard work ethic at several different places. Over the next 15 years she was a bus driver for the Oak Hill School District, the Jackson City Schools and eventually driving for the Jackson County Board of Developmental Disabilities. She was a workshop specialist at JVAC and Hope Haven School and also worked as a real estate agent for Accent Realty and helped with taxes at Dan Tax.
She is survived by her son: Steven (Kimberly) Denney; daughter: Kristi Nicole Denney; brothers: Frank and Thomas Gilkey; grandchildren: Austin James Denney and Amber Renee Denney, and great-grandchildren Carter, Cooper and LeAnn Hedges.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James Wendell Denney.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Pattonsville Cemetery with Fred Denney officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
