Betty Ann (Canter) Wyatt, age 80, of Jackson, passed away at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020. She was born in Wellston, Ohio on Oct. 18, 1939 to the late John and Mary (Hayburn) Canter. Besides her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, James A. Wyatt Sr.; a son, James A. Wyatt Jr.; brothers, Pearl and Ray Canter; and a sister, Nellie Wyatt.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Jean A. Polzer and Roberta L (Jack) Sturgill; three grandchildren: Heather Whiting, Shelby Durham and Paige Hughes; five great-grandchildren: Peyton Long, Treyvin Powell, Soffie Durham, Bryson White and Zaiden White; a brother, Wesley Canter; and sisters: Marie Osborne, Almeda Canter, Nancy Downard, Mary Ellen Clarkson and Carolyn Green. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Betty loved flowers, gardening and baking. She was also a “mother” to all of the neighborhood kids.
Funeral services will be held at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m., with Pastors Mike and Russ Wyatt officiating. The family will receive friends at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 11 prior to the service, from 2 to 6 p.m.
