Thelma Louise Chandler, age 83, of Macedonia, Ohio, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia after a sudden illness. She was wintering with her daughter, Patty Bentley in Helen, Georgia.
Thelma was born on May 6, 1932 in Firebrick, Ohio. She was one of eight children born to the late Cecil W. and Minnie (Smith) Chaney and was the beloved wife of Raleigh D. Chandler for 55 years.
She graduated from Jackson High School in 1950, and later worked as a customer service specialist with JCPenney in Northfield, Ohio and at Patio Enclosures in Macedonia, Ohio.
She is survived by her sons: William D. Chandler and his wife Nancy, Alan Douglas Chandler and his wife Linda Armington and daughter Patricia A. Bentley and her husband, William L. Bentley.
She found great joy in her grandchildren, Jesse W. Phillips and Hunter D. Chandler and her great-grandchild, Lucky Phillips.
She is also survived by her loving sisters, Shirley Aldridge and Ruth Chaney; her niece, Allyson Aldridge; and a great-niece, Rosa Aldridge of Jackson, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raleigh D. Chandler, and five siblings: Cecil, Loren, Everett, infant Arnold, and Donald Chaney.
Services will be held at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson, Ohio on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 1 p.m. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Beaver Union Cemetery in Beaver, Ohio.
