Emileigh Jo Cooper, age 22, of Ray, Ohio, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, February 5, 2016. She was born June 29, 1993 to Butch and Jody (Boroff) Cooper.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sister, Sharissa (Byron) Mullens; brother, Billy Cooper; nephew, Baron Mullens; paternal grandparents, Bill and Lela Cooper; maternal grandparents, Tom (Kay) Boroff and Carolyn (Pat) Ayle; aunts: Susan (Beau) Kearns, Billina (Troy) Donaldson, Kellina (Lyndell) Snyder, and Stacey (Nate) Thompson; and beloved first cousins: Coleman and Steven Kearns, Brendan and Brady Snyder, Kinnison, Cooper, and Caden Donaldson, and Tyler, Natasha, and Aurora Thompson; also, Emileigh will be very sadly missed by countless coaches, former teammates, current players, friends, and many special second and third cousins from her large extended family.
Emileigh was a 2011 graduate of Jackson High School, where she was a class valedictorian. She went on to pursue her dream of being a division 1 athlete at Marshall University, where she excelled in both the classroom and on the diamond. Her senior season was a career best as she hit .434, good for the second all-time record in program history. Emileigh was a proud 2015 graduate of Marshall University with a bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences. Most recently, Emileigh was pursuing her RN license from the University of Rio Grande.
Emileigh had changed gears in her athletic endeavors as she started her coaching career. She was an assistant coach for volleyball at Rio Grande, a 7th-grade girls basketball coach at Jackson Middle School, and was the youngest varsity coach to ever be hired at Jackson for the girls softball program. She was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, friend, player, teammate, coach, and the role she loved most, AUNT.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Jackson High School Gym. Funeral services will be held at the High School Gym on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 12 p.m. with doors opening at 11 a.m. under the direction of her father, Pastor Butch Cooper.
