Joyce Channell, age 83, of Wellston, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at the Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio. She was born September 7, 1931 in Pike County, Kentucky to the late William “Willie” and Elizabeth Farmer Johnson.
Joyce was a wonderful, loving homemaker. She was a member of the Church of the King in Jackson and attended the Jackson Senior Citizens. Joyce enjoyed playing cards and bingo and she was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan.
She is survived by her children, Roger Channell of Little River, South Carolina, Sandy Channell (Robert Miller) of Wellston, Beth Williams (Ben) of Grove City and Hope Burns (Scott Freeman Bailey) of Delaware, Oh., as well as 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Channell in 1994; daughter, Brenda Burgett; daughter-in-law, Rita Channell; granddaughter, Kelly Dickens; and brothers, Kenny Johnson and Bernie Johnson.
Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Butch Deer officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamden Cemetery.
