Donald Wayne Bowling, age 66, of Oak Hill/Columbus, Ohio passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus. He was born January 12, 1949 in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Ernest and Adrienne (Jones) Bowling.
Don was an Oak Hill High School class of 1967 graduate. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force in which he served until 1971. After his years in the service, he worked at, and retired from Timken Roller Bearing.
He was a lifetime member of Amvets #1928 of Columbus, Ohio. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #0261 of Oak Hill, Ohio.
Surviving to mourn his death are his sister, Sherie Dalton (Cecil) of Oak Hill, Ohio; brothers, Paul “Nick” Bowling of Oak Hill, Ohio, Charles (Connie) Bowling of Milford Center, Ohio, and Joseph Bowling of Columbus, Ohio; nieces, Tracy McElcar of Wilmington, North Carolina and Carla Bowling of Milford Center, Ohio; nephews, Jamie Bowling of Oak Hill, Ohio and Richard (Kelly) McElcar of Columbus, Ohio; as well as several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nephews and great-great nieces.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant sister, Connie Sue.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 5, from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home, 202 Maple Avenue, Oak Hill. Funeral services will immediately follow on Thursday, February 5, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at C. M. Cemetery.
