Willis Harris Tomblin, age 85, of Jackson, Ohio, and formerly of Ragland, WV, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Jenkins Care Community of Wellston following a short illness. He was born December 18, 1929 in Whitman, West Virginia to the late William Albert and Elsie (Maynard) Tomblin.
Willis retired from Southern Ohio Coal Company where he had worked as a safety coordinator for many years. He was a former member of the Shriners and was a 32nd degree member of the Jackson Trowel Lodge #132. He was a member and pastor of Paul’s Chapel Church for many years. He spent most of his life ministering and visiting the sick. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Fay (Napier) Tomblin; children, Willis (Wanda) Tomblin of Jackson, Ohio, Sheila (Dorain) Adkins of Richmond, Kentucky, Michelle (Jason) Howell of Jackson, Ohio, and Rodney Tomblin of Jackson, Ohio; grandchildren, Felicia Lea (Chris) Walls of Oak Hill, Ohio, Dorain “Buck” (Susan) Adkins, and Adam Adkins of Richmond, Kentucky, Shane Ferris (Cheyenne) of Columbus, Ohio, Mason Howell of Jackson, Ohio, and Destiny Marie and Chance Tomblin of Jackson, Ohio; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Walter G. Tomblin Sr. of Jackson, Ohio, W.A. Tomblin Jr. of Jackson, Ohio, and Claude Tomblin of Chillicothe, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters, Mary Bachtel, Dorotha Freeman, Augusta Romans, Odessa Blackburn, Hazel Tomblin, and Georgia Ramey; and daughter-in-law, Naomi (Lackey) Tomblin.
Friends may call at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson, Ohio on Friday, January 9, 2015 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. with a Masonic Service conducted by Jackson Trowel Lodge #132 Free and Accepted Masons beginning at 7:30 p.m. Additional calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 11 a.m. to noon at Paul’s Chapel Church.
