Bernice L. Hunter, age 92, of Wellston, passed away Thursday morning, January 8, 2015, at the home of her daughter in Wellston. She was born March 31, 1922 in Wilkesville, Ohio to the late Lemuel and Sadie Freeman Thacker.
In 1938, Bernice married Charles Hunter. She was a homemaker who was dedicated to her family. Bernice was an avid bingo player and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by daughters, Mary Young of Wellston and Charlotte Hubbard of Jackson; sons-in-law, Sam Wilt of Wellston and Walter Malone of Wellston; close family friend, Patty Slusher of Wellston, as well as 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 36 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Hunter in 1974; children, Maggie Malone, Charles A. Hunter, Betty Wilt and Dora Smith; son-in-law, Emmitt Smith; brothers, Bert, Don and Clarence Thacker, and sisters, Ethel Oiler and Audrey Morgan.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Rev.
