Thelma L. Adams, 84, of Hamden, Ohio passed away on Friday afternoon, August 1, 2014 at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston.
She was born in Oreton, Ohio on September 29, 1929, the daughter of the late Walter and Maudie Zornes Cartee. She was a 1947 graduate of Wilkesville High School and a homemaker.
She enjoyed traveling in her spare time. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Adams, in 1997, and four sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Dennis (Leigh Ann) Adams of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Ronald Adams of McArthur, Ohio; Three daughters, Sherry (A. Kent) Channell of Wellston, Mary (Michael) Claar of Hamden, Ohio, and Joyce (Kevin) Edwards of Bakersfield, California; two step-daughters, Carolyn Sue (Harold) Weber of Thornville, Ohio, and Annie Mae Vigil of Paradise, California; one brother, Durwood Cartee, of Hamden; six sisters, Garnet Daft, Alma Peoples, Marcella (Dean) Laferty, and Minnie (Herman) Collins of McArthur, Vivian Yates of Piketon, Ohio, and Leona Maynard of Hamden; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Jenkins Chapel with Reverend Timothy O. Jones officiating followed by Thelma’s burial in her final resting place at Zion Cemetery.
