Mary Catherine Morgan Klipfel

Mary Catherine Morgan Klipfel is now in the loving embrace of her Creator. Everyone’s favorite friend and aunt was born in Athens, to the late Lulu and Edwin Morgan, March 11, 1927. She died peacefully in her sleep February 2, 2014.

Mary’s childhood and school years were spent on a farm located between Gallia and Jackson counties. Upon graduating valedictorian from Cadmus High School, Mary moved to Columbus where she continued her education at night and worked for several different companies. Loving the outdoors, she was a former member of the Central Ohio Hiking Club where she met Daniel H. Klipfel whom she married in 1950 and who preceded her in death in December 13,1994. Mary was proud of her Welsh heritage and joined both the Welsh Presbyterian Church and the Columbus Welsh Singing Society. She later joined the Ohio Avenue United Methodist Church.

Mary is survived by many friends and relatives who love her and will miss her greatly. Family members include her cousins, Cynthy Perry and Brent Perry; sister-in-law Mrs Lois Klipfel; and many nephews and nieces and their families including Drs. Timothy and Sandra Clark, Stephen and Dina Klipfel, Diane (Klipfel) and John Fowler, David and Pandora Klipfel, Paula Klipfel Lavine, David and Susan Klipfel, Sharon (Klipfel) and Bear Kamoroff, and Dr. Pamela Clark Demian.

Mary and the family want to especially thank her friends in Westminster Thurber Towers, and also Griswald Home Health and Ohio Health Hospice for the care and support they provided her.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11a.m. at Evans Funeral Home, 4171 E. Livingston Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43227 where friends may call one hour prior to service, with Reverend Ernest Starr officiating. Interment will be at Sardis Church Cemetery, Oak Hill.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mary’s memory to the Sardis Cemetery Association of Oak Hill, 2710 Gallipolis Rd, Oak Hill, Ohio 45656 or a charity of choice.
