Floyd Edwin Callahan Sr., age 85, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2013 at his home. He was born February 9, 1928 in Jackson to the late Elsa and Clifford Callahan.
Floyd was a 1948 graduate of Jackson High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. Floyd retired from DT&I Railroad after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church. Floyd was also a lifetime member of the BPO Elks, serving as exalted ruler 1960.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joan (Jones) Callahan; daughter-in-law, Anna Callahan, of Jackson; sons, William (Bill) Callahan, of Dayton, and Tom (Amy) Callahan, of Reynoldsburg; granddaughters, Meghan Callahan, of Gallipolis, Caitlin and Brenna Callahan and grandson, Evan Callahan. He is also survived by aunt, Mildred Sandlin, of Jackson; sisters-in-law, Jeanene Collins, Delores Stewart, Martha Humphrey; brother-in-law, Thomas H. Jones, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Floyd Edwin Callahan Jr.; and sister, Rosalyn (Callahan) Nail.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2013 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson with Rev. David Roach and Diaconal Minister Janie Karl officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. A military graveside service will be provided by the Jackson DAV Post 45 of Jackson; also the Elks will provide a service at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
