Inez V. McCarter, age 98, a former resident of Berlin Crossroads and Wellston, passed away Monday morning, June 17, 2013, at the Hospice of Dayton. She was born May 31, 1915 in Beaver, Ohio, the daughter of the late Pearly and Bell Lett Jackson.
Inez was a loving homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She was the matriarch of her family and was the last of her parents’ 14 children. In her younger days, Inez attended the Philadelphia Baptist Church and the Zion Baptist Church, both in Beaver.
She is survived by her four children, Lois Mathews (Jesse) of Dayton, Roy McCarter, Jr. of Wellston, David McCarter of Wellston and Paul McCarter (Naomi) of Wellston; six grandchildren, Roy McCarter III (Mona), Eric McCarter (Brenda) Joshua McCarter, Lisa McCarter, Michael McCarter (Marsha) and Nathan McCarter; one step-grandson, Kevin Tedrow, as well as seven great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides her parents, Inez was preceded in death by her husband, Roy McCarter, Sr. and 13 brothers and sisters.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Zion Baptist Church in Beaver where funeral services will follow at 12 noon with Pastor Keith Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodson Cemetery in Wellston. Funeral services are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.
