James Allen “Jim” McWhorter, age 56, of Wellston, Ohio passed away on September 23, 2012. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, May 11, 1956 to the late Ralph and Joann (Deckard) McWhorter.
He is survived by his companion of 24 years, Michell Stepp; two children, Amie and Kent Channell of Wellston, Ohio and Jamie and Kelli McWhorter of Columbus, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Michael Channell, Jasmine and Jade McWhorter.
Jim was an owner/operator truck driver and he enjoyed playing the drums, but his true passion was airplanes; he was a lifetime member of the Jackson R/C Flying Aces. He enjoyed flying planes and being with his friends.
A special thank you to his close friends, Jason, Sonny and Nick for being there for him during his illness.
Friends may call from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home (formerly Eisnaugle-Lewis Funeral Home) in Jackson, Ohio. The funeral service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the funeral home with Rev. Jim Mollett officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Byer Cemetery with burial to follow.
