Kathleen Potter Downey, age 80, passed away Friday morning, August 24, 2012 at home. She was born October 25, 1931 in Greenup County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Raymond and Ella (Adkins) Potter. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed baking and quilting and garage sales. She was a Sunday School teacher at Jackson Apostolic Church for over 30 years where she had been a member since 1955.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 63 years, William J. Downey of Jackson; Children, daughter, Shelly (Jeff) Argabright of Wellston; sons, Gary (Carman) Downey of Lima, Paul Downey of Jackson, Jared (Shelley) Downey of Oak Hill, and Dale (Kim) Downey of Apex, North Carolina; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren also survive; one brother, Elmer (Mabel) Potter and one sister, Maxine Potter Clay and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Terry William Downey, one sister, Cynthia Potter Sheward and one brother, Glen Potter.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, August 27, 2012 at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson with Pastor Richard Clark and Jeffrey Argabright officiating and burial to follow in the Downey Family Cemetery in Jackson.
