Mauretta M. (Pyles) Wilson

Mauretta May (Pyles) Wilson, age 96, of Oak Hill, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Heartland in Jackson.

She was born March 31, 1922, in Scioto County to the late Harold and Ethel Pyles. Mauretta worked at Gallipolis Development Center and owned a dairy farm for many years. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, bird watching, and taking care of animals.

Mauretta was preceded in death by her first husband, Alton Pyles; infant daughter, Ethel May; brother, Kenneth Pyles; and niece, Kay Pyles. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Elmer “Hack” Wilson and step-son, Dick Wilson.

Mauretta is survived by nieces, Karen Thaxton and Mary Alice Brown; step-daughters, Ruthie Haydon and Bette (James) Foster; daughter-in-law, Flora Wilson; grandchildren: Brenda, Cindy, Chuck, Joalynn, Kristi, Lori, and Andy; 15 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.

Friends may call Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 2-3 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM with Rev. Tim Simpson officiating. A private burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com
