Robert W. Hanson

Robert W. Hanson, 67, of Chillicothe, passed away 8:32 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 in the Chillicothe Veterans Affairs Medical Center following an 18-month illness.

He was born Sept. 15, 1950 at Holzer Hospital in Gallia County, to the late Harry W. and Myrna L. Grant Hanson. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, the former Kathy Wilson.

Also surviving are children, Heather Hanson Rogulski of Chillicothe and Kevin Hart, of Columbus; grandchildren, Erica and Justin Rogulski; a brother, Rodney (Debi) Hanson of Chillicothe; a sister, Barbara (Dannie) Ruhl of Oak Hill; and nieces and nephews, Ryan, Christy, Brook and Brett. Also several great-nieces and great-nephews survive. His nephew, Brandon Ruhl, preceded Bob in death. In addition, he leaves behind his two beloved fur babies, Zoey and Missee.

Robert graduated from Jackson High School in 1968, and shortly after joined the U.S. Navy, retiring after 20 years. He worked for RCI (Ross Correctional Institute) in Chillicothe and retired after 20 years. He was a former member of the American Legion Post 81 in Jackson.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2018 in the Ware Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call at the Ware Funeral Home, 121 West Second St., Chillicothe, Ohio, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5.
