Craig E. Midkiff

Craig E. Midkiff, 58, of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away Friday morning, June 1, 2018, at Fairfield Medical Center ER. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, on June 14, 1959, to James E. Midkiff, who passed away in 2010, and Mary A. Saunders Midkiff of Wellston.

He was a 1977 graduate of Wellston High School where he was a member of the Wellston Golden Rockets Marching Band. He attended the University of Rio Grande where he earned an Associate’s Degree. He recently retired after 25 years with the Corrections Medical Center in Columbus, where he was a clinical laboratory scientist with the prison system of Ohio.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife of eight years, Susan Phillips Midkiff; a daughter, Jennifer (Nick) Burkholder, of Chillicothe, Ohio; a son, Tyler Midkiff, of Jackson, Ohio; a brother, Jeff (Lisa) Midkiff, of Cincinnati; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norman and Gretchen Phillips, of Port Washington, Ohio; sister-in-law, Larissa (Mark) Seikel, of New Philadelphia, Ohio; several nieces and a great-niece.

The family will receive friends at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston on Wednesday after 11 a.m. and until the time of services at 1 p.m. Father Donald Maroon will officiate the services and burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park in Vinton, Ohio. The family requests that memorial contributions in Craig’s name be made to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, 345 Lincoln Ave., Lancaster, Ohio, 43130, or to the Jackson County Dog Pound, 275 Portsmouth St., Jackson, Ohio, 45640.
