Katherine L. Buchanan, age 95, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away peacefully with her daughter and special friend, Mary Gilliland by her side on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017 at Jenkins Care Community of Wellston. She was born Sept. 30, 1922 in Jackson, Ohio to the late John Herbert and Pauline (Camp) Evans.
She is survived by her children: Paul “Lary” (Marcia) Buchanan of Chillicothe, Ohio and Janie E. (Joseph) Saunders of Jackson, Ohio; two grandchildren: Jason (Victoria) Saunders of Jackson, Ohio and Ashley (Johnny) Hood of Wellston, Ohio; four great-grandchildren: Noah and Noel Saunders, and Jacob and Nathaniel Hood; as well as sister-in-law, Melva Evans.
In addition to her parents, Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Buchanan; and four siblings: John Herbert Evans, Jr., Robert Evans, Joann Bradford, and Edward J. Evans.
Katherine was a veteran of the United States Army and served during WW II. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Jackson and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #81.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Janie Karl officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
