James “Jim” Ewing Sr.

James “Jim” S. Ewing SR., age 65, of Wellston, passed away after battling cancer on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. He was born March 31, 1952 to the late Stanley William and Ethel Mae (Hageman) Ewing.

He is survived by his son, James S. Ewing Jr., of Guam; daughters, Sherry (Tom) Jenkins, of Portsmouth, Ohio and Tabitha Funk, of Wellston; mother of his children, Deborah (Barlow) White (Terry Peck), of Wellston; four grandchildren, Nathan Ewing, of Jackson, Amanda (Tony) Gilmerr, of Wellston, Amaya Benitez, of Wellston and Nikki (Craig) Irwin, of South Portsmouth, KY; three great grandchildren, Xavier and Rhett Gilmerr and Carson Irwin; siblings, Ronald Ewing, of Wellston, Debra Hamblin, of Jackson, Theresa Ewing, of Jackson, David (Loretta) Ewing, of Cambridge, OH and Danny (Debbie) Ewing, of Marion, OH. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded by his wife, Dora (Jonas) Ewing and several aunts and uncles.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 6:00 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson with Pastor Phillip Henneman officiating. Friends may gather from 5:00 PM until the time of the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at a later date.
