Marilyn S. Ewing, age 83, of Wellston, passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 2, 2017 at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. She was born Oct. 15, 1934 in Rockbridge, Ohio, daughter of the late Ferdinand H. Gilland and Zella L. Taylor Gilland Myers.

Marilyn was a loving mother and homemaker who loved spending time with her family. Although she could not read music, Marilyn was very musically talented. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, singing and attending the Church of God in Wellston.

Marilyn is survived by seven children, Kenny Ewing of Wellston, Betty Kuhn (Bud) of Wellston, Linda Harris (Delmar) of Wellston, Steve Ewing of Jackson, Mary Cox of Wellston, Billy Ewing of McArthur and Brenda Ratcliff (Dwight) of McArthur; two brothers, Roscoe Gilland of Washington and Charles Gilland of Arizona; two sisters, Bernice Phillips of Arizona and Olive Bourne of Lancaster; as well as 23 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, James Lewis Ewing in 1998; son, Charles “Boug” Ewing; daughter-in-law, Teresa Dorene Ewing; brothers, Roy Gilland and Pau Allen Gilland; sisters, Ellen Gilland, Mabel Knisley and Mary Bell, and three grandchildren.

Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Barry Benson and Pastor Will Gillem officiating. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery in Jackson.
