Gertie McCain, 99 years young, of Jackson, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017. One of 13 children, she was born to the late Lucian Adkins and Rosa Stowers Adkins on March 27, 1917. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Elwood (Bill) Richmond and second husband, John McCain; children, Regina Janette Richmond and Kermit Dwayne Richmond; also seven brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.
She is survived by children, Charles (Liz) Richmond of Defiance, Ohio, Freda Tebbe of Jackson and Janet (Bill) Radabaugh of Jackson; and brothers, Kenneth Adkins of North Carolina and George Adkins of West Virginia. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Gertie was a member of the Old Country Tabernacle of Oak Hill for many years and enjoyed her friends and family, but most of all her relationship with the Lord.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. with funeral service on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Fred Crabtree officiating. Burial will be at Horeb Cemetery in Oak Hill, Ohio. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home of Jackson.
