Jessie (McCain) Boggs

Jessie (McCain) Boggs, age 81, of Oak Hill, Ohio, went to Heaven on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 with her family at her side. Jessie had battled health issues since enduring a stroke on November 26, 2014. Although Jessie’s family is sad to see her go, there is an overwhelming peace that she is with the Lord.

Jessie was born September 30, 1933 in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Andrew Fred and Nora (Humphreys) McCain. She was fortunate enough to be a sibling to and to be loved by 13 other brothers and sisters. She graduated in 1951 from Oak Hill High School. On July 12, 1952 she married Marvin Boggs. At the time of her passing, they had enjoyed 62 years of marriage. They were parents to two children, Regina and Darrell Boggs of Oak Hill, Ohio. They were also blessed with four grandchildren, Justin, Elizabeth, Patrick, and Kyle Boggs. An extra blessing was given to Jessie and Marvin when they became great-grandparents to Connor, Clayton, and Beckett Boggs.

Jessie was known as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to her family and community. Jessie loved life and enjoyed farming with her husband, Marvin and spending time with their family. She particularly enjoyed the lunches that she had with her sisters, sisters-in-law, nieces, and other family members. When they all got together, the room was filled with laughter and constant chattering.

Jessie spent her entire life in the Oak Hill area. She attended church as a child at Monroe Chapel and became a member of Faith United Methodist Church during her adulthood. She attended faithfully and served as a church trustee.

In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Jessie was employed by the Home Department Store in Oak Hill, Ohio for many years. Later she became the owner of the store. She particularly enjoyed the acquaintances she made with customers and made many lifelong friends. Jessie also served as clerk of Madison Township for over 20 years.

Jessie is survived by her husband, Marvin; children, Regina (Steve) and Darrell (Marilyn) Boggs, all of Oak Hill, Ohio; grandchildren, Justin Boggs of Dallas, Texas, Elizabeth Boggs of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Patrick (Leah) Boggs and Kyle (Whitney) Boggs of Oak Hill; great-grandchildren, Connor, Clayton, and Beckett Boggs; siblings, Celia Nance, Estle McCain, Forest McCain, Vergie Smittle, and Marvin McCain, all of Oak Hill, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by eight siblings, Albert McCain, Geneva Kisor, Beulah Morgan, Wilma Thomas, George Melvin McCain, Lenzy McCain, Laurence McCain, and Freddie McCain; and granddaughter, Kendra Boggs.

Friends were to call at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill, Ohio on Friday, March 20, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at C.M. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to: Faith United Methodist Church, 320 W Main Street, Oak Hill, Ohio 45656.
