Helen V. Herbert

Helen V. Herbert, age 87, of Oak Hill, Ohio, passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 at Heartland of Jackson. She was born April 13, 1927 in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Lewis and Vina (Caldwell) Allen.

Helen was a 1945 graduate of Oak Hill High School. She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church and Choir. Additionally, she was a member of the Eastern Stars and was president of the Federated Women’s Club of Oak Hill. She was a devoted homemaker who loved spending time with her family, friends, and neighbors. She especially enjoyed vacationing in the summers, participating in neighborhood activities, golfing, spending her winters in Florida, church functions, and participating in vocal and instrumental music. Helen will always be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor, which brought so much joy and laughter to those whose lives she touched.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Melvin) Morgan of Oak Hill, Ohio; a son, Greg (Judy) Herbert of Oak Hill, Ohio; four grandchildren, Brandon (Kelly) Morgan and Spencer Morgan, all of Oak Hill, Ohio, Dustin (Stacy) Herbert of Jackson, Ohio, and Chelsea Herbert of Columbus, Ohio; three great-grandchildren, Sydney, Alec, and Isaac Morgan, all of Oak Hill, Ohio; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was her husband, John W. Herbert; five brothers, Henry, Stanley, Todd, Roy, and Ed Allen; and four sisters, Ethel Martin, Mary Leonard, Stella Pettit, and Hazel Patton.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 25, 2014 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Pat King officiating. Burial will follow at C.M. Cemetery.
