Amy Ellenberger

Amy Ellenberger, age 99, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Edgewood Manor in Wellston. She was born April 27, 1913 in Pleasant Mills, Indiana to the late Charles Dwight and Wilma (Cowan) Schenck. She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, Century Club and retired from the Jackson City Schools, and Oak Hill Schools as a physical education teacher.

She is survived by her son, John (Denise) Ellenberger, of Jackson; daughters, Julia (Clive) Brofford, of Galloway, Ohio, Lynda (Carl) Kurtz, of Excelsior Springs Missouri; grandchildren, Erica (Rob) Martin, Emily (Mike) Gorski, Laura Ellenberger, Christopher (Deborah) Kurtz, Erin (Jim) Brockman, Kevin (Susan) Brofford, Colleen (Dave) Pataky, and Amynda Brofford. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Merle R. Ellenberger, a brother, John Schenck, and two sisters, Margaret Schenck and Helen Younkman.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, July 28, 2012 at the Christ United Methodist Church with Pastor Dave Roach officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, July 27, 2012 from 4-8 pm at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson.
