Leona Arlene Parks, age 81, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, Aug. 12 at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. She was born Aug. 9, 1940, in Waverly, Ohio to the late William Jennings Detillion and Amy Rulene Sherrick Detillion.
Leona retired from the Jackson City Schools, where she was a secretary for 23 years. She was an avid bird watcher, loved the Lord, but most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Marlin Joe Parks; sisters: Sevilla Rider and Darlene Rider; brothers: Harold Vincent Detillion, William Jennings Detillion Jr. and Denver Detillion.
She is survived by her daughters: Melissa (Brian) Poare and Cheryl Parks; grandchildren: Brian Joseph Parks, Nathan Alexander Poare, Brittany Nicole Linton, Alicia Danielle Peoples and Holly Lynn Peoples; great-grandchildren: Chloe Nicole Linton, Baylee Rene Linton and Liam Daniel Peoples. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15 at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Coalton, Ohio with Pastor Dave Peoples officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home of Jackson.
