Marcella M. Doles, age 95, of Ray, passed away Tuesday, June 1, at the home of her daughter, Crystal. She was born November 19, 1925 in Londonderry, Ohio, the daughter of the late Jessie H. Clary and Clara Jane Branscom Clary. Marcella was a former school bus driver for the Vinton County School District for over 15 years. She enjoyed sewing and working in her flower gardens. Marcella was a member of Corinth Church in Ray and the Ray Senior Citizens, as well as being a 4-H advisor for 16 years.
She is survived by her children, Lloyd Doles, Jr. (Wanda) of Ray, Donald Doles (Edith) of Ray, David Doles (Vicki) of Tennessee, Ricky Doles (Judy) of Ray, Lonnie Doles (Lou Anne) of Ray, Sandy Ellis (Rick) of Ray, Penny Cockrell (Steve) of Ray, and Crystal Spires (Cliff) of Ray; sisters, Judy Harper of Londonderry, Effie Palmer of Allensville, Alice Seitz of Atlanta, Ohio, and Ival Dye of Ray; along with 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her little dog, Angel. Besides her parents, Marcella was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Doles, Sr. in 1990; daughters-in-law, Judy K. Doles, Linda Doles and Patricia Doles; brothers, Ronnie Clary and Delbert Clary; sisters, Susie Ray and Majel Current; grandson, Lonnie Vance Doles; an infant grandson; and her little dog, Karo.
The family would like to thank Marcella’s special friend, Toni Massie, and the caregivers of Heartland Hospice for their wonderful care. Graveside service will be Saturday, June 5, at 11 a.m. at Doles Cemetery in Ray with Pastor Leland Benson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.
