Robert F. “Bob” Stevens, age 91, of Wellston passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2018 at his home. He was born May 23, 1927 in Glen Roy, Ohio, son of the late Rev. Edward F. Stevens and LuLu Gilliland Stevens.
Bob retired from Mead Corp., where he was employed for 24 years, and he was also a former longtime Milton Township Trustee. Bob was a veteran of the United States Army, who served during WW II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston, VFW Post 9092 in Wellston, AmVets of Jackson, DAV Jackson County Chapter 45, Wellston Senior Citizens, and the Wagon Wheelers square dance group.
In his spare time, Bob enjoyed gardening, hunting stones and arrowheads, fishing, mushroom hunting, going to the casino and traveling all over the United States and Canada.
Bob is survived by his sons, Edward A. Stevens of Wellston and Donald E. Stevens (Kristy) of Wellston; grandsons, John Stevens, Bobby Stevens (Libby), Shawn Stevens (Lydia), Todd Stevens (Andrea), Adam Stevens (Sara), and Morgan Stevens (Jessica), all of Wellston, as well as 16 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of over 70 years, Ida K. Stevens on Nov. 1, 2017; step-mother, Mae Stevens; sisters, Dora Ellen McWilliams, Nina Glass and Esther Forenbach; and daughters-in-law, Debbie Stevens and Debbie Stevens.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Rob Ervin officiating.
