Donald Lewis Hammond, age 85, of Patriot, Ohio passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis. He was born November 1, 1932 to the late Thomas and Maude (Woolum) Hammond.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lawana (Straight) Hammond, of Patriot; sons, Ron (Lori) Hammond and Randy (Michelle) Hammond; grandchildren, Amanda (Michael) Boggs, Ambur (Brandon) Tiller, Samantha (Ryan) Klingaman, Emily Hammond, Abby Hammond and Miranda (Matt) Jenkins. Also surviving are great grandchildren, Tyler, Maxton, Paisley, Eden as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his great granddaughter, Lucy Tiller; brothers, Ervin, Floyd, Morgan and Bobby Hammond; sisters, Mary Lou Straight, Emmy Miller, Agnes Devore, Eloise Baily and Minnie Hammond.
Donald was a retired bus driver at Gallia County Schools and a Greenfield Township trustee. He was a member of the Gallia Baptist Church and Greenfield Crime Watch.
Friends may call Monday, July 2, 2018 from 5-8 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will be held 2:00 Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Gallia Baptist Church with Pastor Cline Rawlins officiating. Burial will follow in Gallia Baptist Cemetery.
