Floyd Leo “F.L.” Jenkins, Jr., age 67, of Wellston, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 at the V.A. Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was born Aug. 27, 1949 in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Floyd Leo Jenkins, Sr. and Helen Irene Cartwright Jenkins.
F.L. was a proud veteran of the United States Army who served during the Vietnam War. He was a former self-employed handyman, as well as a former horse trainer at the Jackson County Fairgrounds. F.L. loved his dogs and spending time with his friends. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 9092 of Wellston and the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.
He is survived by his sons, Brad Jenkins (Heather McBride), Shannon Jenkins and Jason Jenkins; grandchildren, Blake, Brylea, Brooklyn, Ryan and Blake; brother, Steve Jenkins (Marcie); sisters, Debbie Gillem (Will) and Pam Camink (Ray Hall), along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Remy, and his brothers, Jeff “Fuzz” Jenkins and Billy “Willy” Jenkins.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Will Gillem officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
