Hope LaVerne Mauch, age 92, of Jackson, Ohio passed away Wednesday, June 29th, 2016 at Holzer Assisted Living. She was born November 7th, 1923 in Newcomerstown, Ohio to the late William and Gladys (Mizer) Johns.
Hope is survived by her children: Laura (Rick) Bowen of Asheville, North Carolina, Linda (Carl) Houser of North Carolina, Louise Mauch of Oak Hill, Ohio, Steve (Stacy) Mauch of Evansville, Wisconsin, and Sam (Jamie) Mauch of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; grandchildren: Derek, Jake, Blake, Chase, Cory, Taylor, Michael, William, Scott, Lisa, Stacy, and Emily; ten great-grandchildren; a niece, Janet; and nephew, Jon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Mauch; daughter, Lillian Mauch; and her brother, Jan Johns.
Hope was president of Women’s Faith Lutheran Church and was on the clerical staff of the War Production Board in WWII. She had previously worked at Gimbels in NYC and was a 1st grade teacher at Franklin Valley School from 1970-1984. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading, and traveling. She belonged to Newcomers and Homemakers.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 4th, 2016 from 4-6 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 5th, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church of Jackson with Pastor Jeremy Hollingshead officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
