Matthew E. Harris, 51, of Wellston, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Holzer Medical Center in Jackson. He was born on February 16, 1964 in Vinton County, Ohio, son of the late William “Willie” and Dorothy Harris. Matthew (along with his brother Sammy) was most well-known for his ability to mow lawns, always striving for perfection and helping his brother Bruce fix lawn tractors and weed eaters. He “never knew a stranger” and would do his best to help anyone in need. He enjoyed fishing, demolition derbies, racing, and playing pool, but most of all spending time with his family and friends.

Mathew is survived by his loving family: brothers, Sam of Wellston, Randy of McArthur, Bill (Patricia) of Ray, and Jim (Patty) Harris of Lancaster; sisters, Bonnie (Glenn) Plummer of McArthur, Tammy Harris of McArthur, Shirley Huckens of New York, Della (Lloyd) McQueen of New Concord, and Robin Harris of Jackson; special friends, Lee Lambert, Tracy McLain, and Brenlei Floyd; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Timmy and Bruce Harris.

A funeral service celebrating Matthew’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 W. Broadway Street, Wellston, with Pastor J. R. Croston and Pastor Michael Jadrnicek officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday, February 15, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m.
