Calvin S. Allen, age 88, of Oak Hill, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born December 27, 1927 in the Monroe Hollow area to the late Stanley and Alice (McCain) Allen.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anna Lou (Dameron) Allen, of Oak Hill; children, Jeff (Anita) Allen, of Oak Hill, Sheri (Danny) Woodward, of Gallipolis, Bob (Kathy) Allen, of Oak Hill, Lisa (Shane) McCoy, of Marysville and Jan (Robert) Gallagher, of Oak Hill; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jonathan Allen, Seth and Olivia Woodward, Andrea Michael, Megan Lunsford, Bobbie Jo Chapman, Matthew McCoy, Nathaniel and Jenny Gallagher, Molly Kalinoski and Joe Gallagher. Also surviving are 14 great-grandchildren and brothers, Donald Allen, of Jackson and Fred Allen, of Oak Hill, along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Bobby Allen, Gerald Allen and Lonnie Allen.
Calvin was a Korean War Veteran with the United States Army. Over the years he was an assistant pastor over various periods of time at the Old Country Church Tabernacle, of which he was a lifelong member. Most of his life he was a truck driver. The second love of his life after his wife, was his ’47 Plymouth.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Old Country Church Tabernacle in Oak Hill with Pastor Bryon Carmon officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, January 29, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill.
