Lowell Dean Warrens, age 78, of Ray, Ohio passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at his home. He was born February 12, 1937 in Floyd County, Kentucky to the late Joseph Hawley and Girlie (Triplett) Warrens.
Lowell spent the first 17years of his work at B&O Railroad. In 2001 he retired after 25 ½ years with the State of Ohio Corrections. He attended Tick Ridge Church of Ray, Ohio. He was ranked 79 in the top-ranked 100 horseshoe pitchers in Ohio. He won many awards and trophies in horseshoe tournaments.
He is survived by his wife, Connie (Ley) Warrens; three daughters and one son: Deborah (Larry) Speakman, Brenda (Marcus) Ray, David Warrens (fiancé, Cheryl Gloyd), and Sandra Warrens; five grandchildren: Larry “JR” Speakman, Timothy Speakman, Clayton (Beth) Ray, Brandon Ray, and Tiffany (Monroe) Raber; two great-grandchildren: Dakota Speakman and Eli Ray; brothers and sisters: Oswald “Bub” (Pauline) Warrens, Janice (Duane) Graves, Myrna (Dean) Flaker, Barb (Phil) Brown, Roy (Karen)Warrens, Mary (Eldred) Hale, and Charlotte (Larry) Johnson; step-sons, Ted (Jackie) Leys and Todd (Stephanie) Leys; step-daughters, Peggy (John) Jenkins and Janna (Revis) Osborne; step-grandchildren: Miranda, Bethany (Adam), Brooke, Lucas, Derek (Sara), Emily (Justin), Evan, Eden, Josh (Sara), Tyler, and Owen; step-great-grandchildren: Leo, Millie, Bennett, Lane, and Cyrus; well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rondall Verle Warrens; and infant brother, Raymond Rondall Warrens.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. at Tick Ridge Church under the direction of the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. A funeral service will be held at the church on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ronnie Warrens officiating. Burial will follow at Warrens Family Cemetery.
