Jimmy D. Morrow, age 77, of Wellston, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at his home. He was born March 20, 1937 in Vinton County, Ohio to the late Clarence Clyde Morrow, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Evans Morrow.
Jim was a 1955 graduate of McArthur High School. He retired from Kroger, having worked in both McArthur and Wellston for a total of 43 years. Jim was a former third ward Wellston city councilman, former Wellston city council president and former Mayor of Wellston. He was a faithful member of the Hope United Methodist Church in Wellston, where he was actively involved with various church committees and was presently the usher coordinator. Jim was a long-time, dedicated volunteer at My Brother’s Place, and he loved working in the yard, enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together and collecting old Matchbox cars.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janice Faye Ogier Morrow, whom he married on September 4, 1955; daughter, Toni Morrow of Wellston; sisters, Emma Lou Wiseman (Ken) of Jackson and Linda Morrow of Circleville; brother-in-law, Melvin Ogier (Beverly) of St. Cloud, Florida; niece, Diane Deason; nephews, Mike Ogier and Kerry Ogier, as well as a host of friends.
Calling hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Leland Brehm officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamden Cemetery.
