James E. Manering, age 66, of Jackson, Ohio passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015 at his home. He was born March 8, 1948 in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late William P. and Catherine L. (Angles) Manering.
Jim graduated from Jackson High School, class of 1966. He was also a veteran of the United States Army. He worked at Angle’s Garage with his father prior to his time with the Jackson County Sheriff’s office. He worked for over 30 years as a deputy and eventually an investigator for the Jackson County Sheriff’s office, from which he retired in 2014. He also worked at Fletcher’s Towing in Circleville, Ohio from 2005-2009 as a tow truck operator. In addition he was a member of the Jackson Auxiliary Police Department.
He is survived by his siblings, Judy (Thomas) Yerian, J.C. (Debbie) Manering, Jeff Manering (Amy), and Jerry (Mandy) Manering. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, John and Joe Manering; and his nephew, Jeremy Manering.
Friends may call at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson, Ohio on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from 12 p.m.-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 1pm at the funeral home.
