Freda Virginia Clark, 99, of Wellston, passed away on Thursday evening ,December 11 , 2014 , at Edgewood Manor of Wellston.
She was born on March 19, 1915, in Wellston to the late Alfred William Stroth and Bertha Sadler Stroth. She was a 1933 graduate of Wellston High School and a graduate of Rio Grande College. She was a teacher for 34 years in the Wellston City Schools, having taught third grade at the former Harvey Wells School and most recently at Bundy Elementary.
She was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church of Wellston. She will be remembered by her former students for her kindness, personality, style, and beauty while embracing them in a thorough education. They not only learned beautiful cursive writing from her, but to also show respect to others. She was a “class act” all the way.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Herbert Clark in 1979; her brother, Jack Alfred Stroth in July 2012; and her dear friend and neighbor, Catharine “Katy” Thomas Weber in November 2005.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Betty Stroth, of Wellston; a nephew, Terry Stroth, of South Carolina; a niece, Tisha Stroth Argabright (Keith), of Wellston; grand nephew, Jack Stroth II; grand niece, Mandee Argabright Karr (Chris); and great grand nieces, Cameron and Reese Karr.
Also her close friends in Wellston, Anita McManus, Judy Hollingshead, Mary Beth Casteel, Carol Ghearing, and Betsy Fain.
Freda requested no services to follow her death, but instead to have a memorial reading in her memory take place during regular Sunday worship services at Hope United Methodist Church. This will take place during services which begin at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, December 21 at the church.
Freda is in her final resting place at Ridgewood Cemetery next to Herb.
She requested that in her memory you remember your best friend with a gift.
