Kay Laverne (Jenkins) McNerlin, age 71, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at her home. She was born September 5, 1943 in Jackson, Ohio to the late Daniel and Anna (Mercer) Jenkins.
Kay graduated from Buckeye Hills Career Center with an LPN degree. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, canning, and gardening. She was a proud member of TOPS #OH 1965 Jackson, where she maintained a KOPS status even during her illness. The biggest joy in her life was her family; she was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, and friend. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John Edwin McNerlin of Jackson, Ohio; children, Sharee (Melissa) Smith of Chillicothe, Ohio, Anita Walker of Jackson, Ohio, John Daniel (Sandy) McNerlin of Beaver, Ohio, and Grace (Timothy) Phillips of Jackson, Ohio; grandchildren, Gabe (Mike) Sisco, John Robert (Amber) Walker, John David (Donna) Phillips, Shane (Tiffany) Walker, Paul Gillenwater, and Whisper McNerlin; great-grandchildren, Dan and Lilly Lagerstam, Allen and Aubree Walker, and Alyssa and Hailie Phillips; brother, Charles (Pearl) Jenkins; sister, Barbara (Carroll) Hickman; her dog, Tippy; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, friends, and neighbors.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, Danny and Sadie McNerlin; brother, Dan Ivan Jenkins; grandson, Travis Fairchild; and her beloved dog, Bonnie.

Friends may call at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson, Ohio on Friday, November 14, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. A service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at the funeral home at 2 p.m. with Rev.
