Harold Lloyd McWilliams, age 87, of McArthur, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 13, 2014, at the Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan. He was born March 31, 1927 in Hamden, Ohio, the son of the late James and Irene Armstrong McWilliams.
Lloyd was a veteran of the United States Army, having served as a telephone operator while being stationed in Hawaii. He retired from the Columbus plant of the Timken Roller Bearing Company in 1987 after 43 years of employment. Lloyd was a member of the Wellston Church of the Nazarene. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and Christian man. He loved to sing (even while in the hospital), delighting those around him.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Lou Reynolds McWilliams; two sons, Michael (Teresa) McWilliams of Grove City and Ronald (Debbie) McWilliams of Nelsonville; eight grandchildren, Amy, Melanie, Aaron, Andy, Lisa, Jonathon, Angel and Pamela; 11 great-grandchildren, Noah, Eian, Kash, Luke, Beau, Jaxon, Austin, Hunter, Brady, Jaden and Serenity; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ray and Barbara Reynolds of McArthur, as well as many other family members and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Herbert, William, Robert, John and Franklin McWilliams, and three sisters, Blanche Greene, Ruth Winters and Frances Qualette.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Griffith officiating. Burial will be in the Elk Cemetery in McArthur.
