Freda C. Spearry, age 94, of Wellston, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014, at the Holzer Medical Center in Jackson, Ohio. She was born March 15, 1920 in VanLear, Kentucky to the late Frank and Lydia Jennings Wetzel.
Freda was a 1938 graduate of Wellston High School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, who retired from the family business, Spearry’s Country Store in Coalton. Freda was a lovely seamstress beyond words. She was a jack of all trades and a master of all.
Freda is survived by her daughter, Deidra Willis of Wellston; daughter-in-law, Sharon Spearry of Omaha, Nebraska; five grandchildren, J.C. Spearry of Cleveland, John Spearry of Cleveland, Jason Spearry of Omaha, Nebraska, Jessica Ropski of Omaha, Nebraska and Josh Willis of Wellston; five great-grandchildren, Tristan, Belina, Carter, Peyton and Regan; sister, Georgia Arthur of Wellston, as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Besides her parents, Freda was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon C. Spearry; son, Jimmie C. Spearry; brother, Frank Wetzel, Jr., and sisters, Lucille Walton, Juanita Johnson and Evelyn “Dot” Huffman.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Graveside funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Ridgewood Cemetery, with Pastor Jim Griffith officiating.
