Kenneth Johnson Hughes

Kenneth Johnson Hughes, 89, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at 3:55 p.m. at Mt. Carmel West Hospital in Columbus where he had been a patient four days.

Mr. Hughes was born April 18, 1925, in Jackson, Ohio to Daniel and Jessie Hughes. He was a 1943 graduate of Jackson High School where he was a star football and basketball player. 

He retired as a superintendent from Armco Steel in Washington C.H. after more than 30 years of service. 

Mr. Hughes was a member of the Crossroads Christian Church of Washington C.H.; Fayette Lodge F&AM #107; was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy and was a former longtime member of the Kiwanis Club of Washington C.H. He was an avid Ohio State University Buckeye fan.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother and sister-in-law, David and Deloris Hughes.

Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife, the former Mae Lucille Parks, whom he married August 28, 1948; four sisters-in-law, Marjorie (Jim) Hughes of Frankfort, Marilyn (Bill) Volz of North Carolina, Amy Parks and Jean Parks, both of Washington C.H. and several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Saturday, August 9, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Danny Dodds, minister at the Greenfield Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 12 p.m. noon until time of the service.
